 Call to Worship  (Clergy Stuff)

 LEADER:     John proclaims, “Look! Here is the Lamb of God!”
ALL:             What does this mean? We want to know.
LEADER:      Come and see what Jesus is all about.
ALL:             We open our minds and hearts to the Word.

Opening Prayer (Clergy Stuff)

 All: Loving God,
You invite us each day into the Word, into our communities of faith, into the work or the wellbeing of the world. Help us to hear in this joyful invitation the call to know and love you more deeply, and to live more richly and authentically, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

*Opening Song  The Summons (TFWS 2103)

1. Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown,
will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?

2. Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare
should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me?

3. Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean,
and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean in you and you in me?

4. Will you love the “you” you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found
to reshape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?

5. Lord, your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In your company I’ll go where your love
and footsteps show.
Thus I’ll move and live and grow in you and you in me.

 Sermon   “Jesus Says Come and See”   Rev. DV Yost

Covenant Prayer
ALL: I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, place me with whom you will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be put to work for you or set aside for you.
Praised for you or criticized for you.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and fully surrender all things to your glory and service.
And now, O wonderful and holy God, Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, you are mine, and I am yours. So be it.
And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it also be made in heaven. Amen.

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song  Lord, You have Come to the Lakeshore (UMH 344)

1. Lord, you have come  to the lakeshore
looking neither for wealthy  nor wise ones;
you only asked me to follow humbly.

Refrain
O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me,
and while smiling have spoken my name;
now my boat’s left on the shoreline behind me;
by your side I will seek other seas.

2. You know so  well my possessions;
my boat carries no gold and no weapons;
you will find there my nets and labor.

Refrain
O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me,
and while smiling have spoken my name;
now my boat’s left on the shoreline behind me;
by your side I will seek other seas.

3. You need my hands, full of caring
through my labors to give others rest,
and constant love that keeps on loving.

Refrain
O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me,
and while smiling have spoken my name;
now my boat’s left on the shoreline behind me;
by your side I will seek other seas.

4. You, who have fished other oceans,
ever longed for by souls who are waiting,
my loving friend, as thus you call me.

Refrain
O Lord, with your eyes you have searched me,
and while smiling have spoken my name;
now my boat’s left on the shoreline behind me;
by your side I will seek other seas.

Communion Sung Response TFWS 2257a-d

Leader: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Leader: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

...

All: Holy, holy, holy Lord; God of power and might.
Heaven and heart are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!
Blest is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!

...

All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!

...

The Lord’s Prayer (Spoken)

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Sung: Amen, Amen, Amen.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!

SENDING

 *Closing Song O God, Our Help in Ages Past (UMH 117)

1. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home!

2. Under the shadow of thy throne,
still may we dwell secure;
sufficient is thine arm alone,
and our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood,
or earth received her frame,
from everlasting, thou art God,
to endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages, in thy sight,
are like an evening gone;
short as the watch that ends the night,
before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever rolling stream,
bears all who breathe away;
they fly forgotten, as a dream
dies at the opening day.

6. O God, our help in ages past,
our hope for years to come;
be thou our guide while life shall last,
and our eternal home.
