 Call to Worship  (Clergy Stuff)

LEADER:       Come as you are into this holy house.
ALL:             We come in need of clean hearts, O God.
LEADER:       Our God restores us to the joy of salvation.
ALL:             Wash us, and we shall be clean.

Opening Prayer (Clergy Stuff)

Holy God, You have all power, such as to create all that is, yet in Jesus, you humbled yourself and became a finite human and a servant of all. Give us the humility both to recognize our limitations, and to joyfully serve others without expectation of return. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

*Opening Song         Make Me a Servant                          TFWS 2176

Make me a servant,
humble and meek,
Lord, let me lift up
those who are weak.

Make me a servant,
humble and meek,
Lord, let me lift up
those who are weak.

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song  Jesu, Jesu     UMH 432

Refrain

Jesu, Jesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbors
we have from you.

  1. Kneels at the
    feet of his friends,
    silently washes
    their feet,
    Master who acts
    as a slave to them.

Refrain

Jesu, Jesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbors
we have from you.

  1. Neighbors are
    rich and poor,
    neighbors are
    black and white,
    neighbors are
    near and far away.

Refrain

Jesu, Jesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbors
we have from you.

  1. These are the ones
    we should serve,
    these are the ones
    we should love;
    all these are neighbors
    to us and you.

Refrain

Jesu, Jesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbors
we have from you.

  1. Loving puts us
    on our knees,
    serving as though
    we are slaves,
    this is the way
    we should live with you.

Refrain

Jesu, Jesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbors
we have from you.

  1. Kneel at the
    feet of our friends,
    silently washing
    their feet,
    this is the way
    we should live with you.

Refrain

Jesu, Jesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbors
we have from you.

*Offering Response   Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow   (UMH 95)

 *Prayer of Dedication  (Clergy Stuff)

All: As Jesus humbly served his disciples, so we humbly offer our gifts in service to you, our neighbors, and all creation. Accept these offerings and make them holy, that they might help to bring your transforming love to bear upon a suffering world. Amen.

Communion Sung Response TFWS 2257a-d

Leader: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Leader: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

...

All: Holy, holy, holy Lord; God of power and might.
Heaven and heart are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!
Blest is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!

...

All: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!

...

The Lord’s Prayer (Spoken)

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Sung: Amen, Amen, Amen.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!

SENDING

*Closing Song Lord Speak to Me UMH 463

  1. Lord, speak to me,
    that I may speak
    in living echoes
    of thy tone;
    as thou hast sought,
    so let me seek thine
    erring children
    lost and lone.
  1. O strengthen me,
    that while I stand
    firm on the rock,
    and strong in thee,
    I may stretch out
    a loving hand
    to wrestlers with
    the troubled sea.

  2. O teach me, Lord,
    that I may teach
    the precious things
    thou dost impart;
    and wing my words,
    that they may reach
    the hidden depths
    of many a heart.

  3. O fill me with
    thy fullness, Lord,
    until my very
    heart o’erflow
    in kindling thought
    and glowing word,
    thy love to tell,
    thy praise to show.

  4. O use me, Lord,
    use even me,
    just as thou wilt,
    and when, and where,
    until thy blessed
    face I see,
    thy rest, thy joy,
    thy glory share.
