 Call to Worship  (Clergy Stuff)

LEADER:           We gather as we are, some in joy, some in sorrow.
ALL:                   We bring our joys and sorrows to God.
LEADER:           Our God receives us in love and mercy.
ALL:                   We trust in God’s promise of eternal life.

Opening Prayer (Clergy Stuff)

 God of life, All of us have grieved losses in our lives; many are grieving today, here and around the world. Comfort us in our grief and restore our hope in your promise to wipe away the tears from every face. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

*Opening Song         Lord, I Lift Your Name on High                           TFWS 2088

Lord, I lift your
name on high;
Lord, I love to
sing your praises.

I’m so glad
you’re in my life;
I’m so glad you
came to save us.

You came from
heaven to earth,
to show the way,
from the earth to the cross
my debt to pay;

from the cross
to the grave,
from the grave to the sky;
Lord, I lift your
name on high.

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song  Breathe on Me, Breath of God       UMH 420

1. Breathe on me,
Breath of God,
fill me with life anew,
that I may love
what thou dost love, and
do what thou wouldst do.

2. Breathe on me,
Breath of God,
until my heart is pure,
until with thee
I will one will,
to do and to endure.

3. Breathe on me,
Breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
till all this earthly
part of me
glows with thy fire divine.

4. Breathe on me,
Breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with thee
the perfect life
of thine eternity.

Prayers of the People

God of mercy and grace, we lift our prayers to you.

The Lord’s Prayer (Spoken)

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

 *Offering Response   Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow   (UMH 95)

 *Prayer of Dedication  (Clergy Stuff)

All: As Jesus gave Lazarus life, so you give us life each day in your name. In gratitude for all your generosity to us, we return to you these gifts of our labor, our money, and our whole selves. Bless what we offer that it might be a blessing to all creation. Amen.

SENDING

 *Closing Song Jesus Calls Us O’er the Tumult UMH 398

1. Jesus calls us
o’er the tumult
of our life’s
wild, restless sea;
day by day
his sweet voice soundeth,
saying, “Christian,
follow me!”

2. As of old
the apostles heard it
by the Galilean lake,
turned from home
and toil and kindred,
leaving all for
Jesus’ sake.

3. Jesus calls us
from the worship
of the vain
world’s golden store,

from each idol
that would keep us,
saying, “Christian,
love me more!”

4. In our joys
and in our sorrows,
days of toil
and hours of ease,
still he calls, in
cares and pleasures,
“Christian, love me
more than these!”

5. Jesus calls us!
By thy mercies,
Savior, may
we hear thy call,
give our hearts to
thine obedience,
serve and love thee
best of all.
