Invitation and Sharing of Peace

Leader: Peace be with you. All: And also with you.

Prelude He Knows My Name - Rejuvenate

Lighting of the Altar Candles

Call to Worship (clergy stuff)

Leader: All that we have belongs to God.
All:  Let us return our gifts to God with thanksgiving.
Leader: All that we are belongs to God.
All:  We give ourselves to God with joy.

Opening Prayer  (clergy stuff)
All: Holy God, You did not withhold even your own Son, who willingly gave his life for the redemption of the world. Loosen our grasp on worldly things, that we might be freed from our fears of loss and inspired to risk for the good work of justice for all that you have made. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

*Opening Song El Shaddai UMH 123

1. Through Your love and through the ram
You saved the son of Abraham
Through the power of Your hand
You turned the sea into dry land
To the outcast on her knees
You were the God who really sees
And by Your might
You set Your children free

El Shaddai El Shaddai
El Elyonna Adonai
Age to age You're still the same
By the power of the name
El Shaddai El Shaddai
Erkamkana Adonai
We will praise and lift You high
El Shaddai

2. Through the years You made it clear
That the time of Christ was near
Though the people couldn't see
What Messiah ought to be
Though Your Word contained the plan
They just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
In the frailty of Your Son

El Shaddai El Shaddai
El Elyonna Adonai
Age to age You're still the same
By the power of the name
El Shaddai El Shaddai
Erkamkana Adonai
We will praise and lift You high
El Shaddai

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song O Master Let Me Walk With Thee UMH 430

1. O Master, let me walk with thee
in lowly paths of service free;
tell me thy secret; help me bear
the strain of toil, the fret of care.

2. Help me the slow of heart to move
by some clear, winning word of love;
teach me the wayward feet to stay,
and guide them in the homeward way.

3. Teach me thy patience; still with thee
in closer, dearer company,
in work that keeps faith sweet and strong,
in trust that triumphs over wrong;

4. In hope that sends a shining ray
far down the future's broadening way,
in peace that only thou canst give,
with thee, O Master, let me live.

Prayers of the People

Leader: God of Promise, All: hear our prayer.

*Offering Response Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow UMH 94

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow
Praise God, all creatures here below
Alleluia alleluia
Praise God, the source of all our gifts
Praise Jesus Christ whose power uplifts
Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit
Alleluia alleluia alleluia

*Prayer of Dedication (clergy stuff)

All: You do not ask of us more than we can give you, O God, but instead give us more than we can possibly need. We return now these gifts, a sacrifice for the well-being of the world, out of gratitude for all that has been sacrificed on our behalf. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

SENDING

*Closing Song Faith of Our Fathers UMH 710

1. Faith of our fathers, living still,
in spite of dungeon, fire, and sword;
O how our hearts beat high with joy
whene'er we hear that glorious word!

Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.

2. Faith of our fathers, we will strive
to win all nations unto thee;
and through the truth that comes from God,
we all shall then be truly free.

Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.

3. Faith of our fathers, we will love
both friend and foe in all our strife;
and preach thee, too, as love knows how
by kindly words and virtuous life.

Faith of our fathers, holy faith!
We will be true to thee till death.
