For the Narrative Lectionary, the gospel this year is John. If you’re already familiar with the Gospel of John, you might have noticed that many of our readings so far this year (since September) have sounded similar to aspects of John. And that would be by design. If you’re not too familiar with John yet, don’t worry, we’ve got until Easter with John. We’ll begin with John on December 21st. And as I’ve been preparing for our four (ish) months of John, I’ve been reading quite a few books on John. While the commentaries are a bit on the heavier side, here are a few shorter books on John that you might find interesting. (Links are to Cokesbury or Bookshop but can be found at many other book sellers.)
